Installing a flare to cover and burn methane emissions of slurry storage.

Covering the slurry storage tank allows the recovery of the produced methane, and the installation of a flare to burn this methane. However, the technique can only be applied to stored liquid effluents. If ammonia nitrogen emissions are partly reduced, combustion can significantly reduce methane emissions.

Moreover, the simple fact of constructing the cover of manure storage is a source of emissions reduction : the impact is much reduced as compared to an open outdoor storage, and generally leads to a decrease of the indoor storage time, where losses are also important.
